No other city has had so much written and studied about it. No other city
has as many names as Jerusalem is known by. The most important events in the history of
the Jewish people took place in this city which reflected on Christianity
and Islam. 'There is little doubt Jerusalem is of such great interest to so many.

The Kotel (The Western Wall)
King David wanted to build a great Temple for God as a permanent resting place for the Ark of the Covenant. According to Jewish tradition, David was not permitted to build the Temple because he had been a warrior. The task was to fall on a man of peace, David's son, Solomon. The Temple would become the focus of Jewish veneration from that point to the present
Jerusalem is the holiest city of Judaism since the 10th century BCE, and some denominations of Christianity since the 5th century CE. It has also been third holiest in Islam, after Mecca and Medina, since the 7th century CE. A heterogeneous city, Jerusalem represents a wide range of national, religious, and ethnic groups.
